The Flamingo Project is a community for anyone who identifies as a woman and is seeking honest connection, thoughtful conversation, and a sense of belonging that feels natural. It began in Greater Shepparton with a simple question: what if there was a space where people could come together just as they are, without needing to explain or justify their story?
Since then, it has grown through shared moments, slow conversations, and small gatherings that hold space for reflection, growth, and care. Whether we are sitting in a circle, speaking over tea, or simply sharing quiet company, we honour the richness of each experience brought into the room. This is a place to land. A place to listen. A place to speak when the time feels right.
At the heart of The Flamingo Project is a deep belief in connection over comparison. We value showing up with honesty, not for performance. We believe that storytelling is a form of healing, especially when shared in trusted company. We believe in moving gently, choosing presence, and allowing community to grow at its own pace.
Our mission is to create space for those who identify as women in regional communities to connect with each other, speak openly, and feel supported in the ways that truly matter. We gather in circles instead of rows. We centre lived experience over titles or credentials. We welcome both quiet voices and bold truths, and everything in between. The Flamingo Project is shaped by care, guided by curiosity, and sustained through shared presence.
We offer monthly circles where you can share, reflect, or simply be present. Our community events are local, accessible, and grounded in real-life experience. We also host a private Facebook group where you can stay connected between gatherings, and offer a simple membership for those who want to walk more closely with the project and support its growth.
This is not a space for performing or proving. It is a space for being, for becoming, and for remembering what matters. Whether you are in a season of change, seeking clarity, or simply looking for a place to exhale, you are welcome here.

Acknowledgement of Country
